I've ordered dozens of pounds of coconut oil over the years. I love it, it's helped me drop from 310lbs down to a mere 230lbs - normal weight range. Sounds strange doesn't it? A FAT helping me lose fat? Coconut Oil is fantastic, and it also helps build natural DHEA in my body as I age - we NEED those essential fats.Nevertheless - over the years many varieties have been consumed. Here are the true rankings of coconut oil, and my opinion following;Centrifuge Coconut Oil is the most raw. It's never heated. It is extremely mild tasting. It is made from fresh coconuts that are shelled, chopped and then gently expeller pressed. The temperatures of the coconut flesh and the resulting coconut milk emulsion are carefully monitored to insure they do not exceed 40° C or 104° F. Once the coconut is shelled, it takes less than 45 minutes to produce the milk. This coconut milk, with the aid of a series of centrifuges, separates the oil from the water components of the milk. The centrifuge works like a cream separator used for separating cream from cow's milk. It requires a series of passes through 6 different centrifuges before a pure oil is isolated, but the result is absolutely fabulous. Lastly, a slight vacuum is placed on the coconut oil to remove any remaining traces of moisture. Once all moisture is removed, the oil is packaged However I found centrifuge to not be as good in cooking. It's best in smoothies, and eaten by the spoonful (tastes like icecream!?!?). But for cooking it's sub-par, and doesn't impart nearly as good of a flavor.Cold Pressed is actually grated coconut hearts, which are then 'heated'. The name cold pressed is actually a bit of a lie. While the heating is low temperature, it's still heated! The fresh coconuts are opened and grated. Then the grated coconut is dehydrated at low temperatures, drying the coconut into fresh, crisp flakes. These flakes are then "pressed" to yield delicious oil that also contains many of the nutrients and flavors of the fresh coconut. This oil is a bit cloudy because of the proteins and other components it contains, so it is then placed into a centrifuge to "spin out" the fine particles and clarify the oil.Expeller Pressed is the second most processed, and the worst in my opinion. The organic coconuts are opened and quickly dried. These dried coconuts are then mechanically pressed to remove the oil. No chemical solvents are used at any time during the process. Any free fatty acids in the oil are removed. The oil is run through diatomaceous earth and then steam distilled. This yields a pure, uncontaminated coconut oil which is commonly sold as expeller pressed coconut oil. However, to become the ultra-clean oil sold here, it then travels to the Netherlands where it is filtered and cleaned further.Refined. This is the lowest grade. This is where coconut oil becomes thin, unflavored, and unhealthy. Refined used by theaters to make popcorn, and in the industry as a 'cheap' low grade oil. What's my expert opinion as a professional chef, and coconut oil lover? COLD PRESSED is the best. It has the a mild flavor, but enough coconut to give it a 'personality'. It's not refined enough to become bad, or rancid, and retains the vast majority of what makes coconut oil great. It's the best overall for ALL USES - cooking, skin care, and raw. It's the compromise between having 3 different varieties! Kirkland is true cold pressed, and is a VERY GOOD cold pressed. The flavor is rich, the texture is perfect. In my view Kirkland has reached a near 'Utopian' level with this, and I would stock up!I've had the most expensive, most carefully handled centrifuge coconut oil on the planet, and I still prefer Kirkland's Cold Pressed. While the Centrifuge was GOOD raw, on the spoon, it was pretty lousy in cooking, especially higher temps. I believe this may be because there ARE some impurities left in it that are removed during the 'baking' of cold pressed. Either way, I tend to prefer cold pressed - just realize the processing of cold pressed is not actually 'cold' by any sense of the word.

This is a wonderful quality coconut oil. I bought it mainly for making soap and lotion. I love that it is unrefined, and has a subtle coconut fragrance. It is very silky and melts easily and evenly on your skin. I've used it to make Castile soap, and several different lotions. I'm very pleased with the outcome! Highly recommend it!

This is my second order of the product and I love it. I take a couple of tablespoons in various ways every day. If you haven't read what a powerful super food coconut oil is do yourself a favor and google it check out videos on Youtube. This "superfood" has positive effects beyond belief in for physical and emotional health. It's even been proven to help prevent or reverse the onset of alzheimer's! I put a little in my dog's food and her coat is shiny and it helps with her allergies as well.

OH HOW I LOVE THIS COCONUT OIL!!Let me count the ways:1. It's my replacement for animal-based oils like butter! Yup!! You read right! It replaced the unsalted butter I used to buy in bulk and kept in stock in my freezer.2. It's fantastic in hot cereals like Cream O'Wheat & Oatmeal!3. Slathered on hot, fresh baked cornbread!4. Avocado Toast!5. Rice6. Potatoes7. Pasta8. Grilled Veggies! (2nd most frequent use)9. Grilled Seafood!10. Hot Popcorn! (The #1 way we use it most)I truly hope it is as natural, unrefined and Non-GMO as the label says it is. Because to find out otherwise, would be soul-crushing.It is a wonderful addition to my plant-based oil serums that I make for hair, skin, cooking and topical medicines because it melts at room-temperature.It is an excellent heart-healthy plant-based oil!

Great product especially the price. Love the smell

This brand is better than a lot of the other more popular brands, such as Nutiva. This brand is even better than the CO that I sometimes purchase from Soaper's Choice and J Edwards Bulk Oils. It tastes fresh and I like that it does not taste 'smokey' like Nutiva's brand.

Its very big and it smells really good and its cold pressed unrefined 100% pure organic virgin coconut oil can't get any better than that i love it can't wait to use it

Love this stuff for everything! On my hair as a conditioner, (after washing while still wet, or dry to keep frizz away! ) Also use on skin for the whole family. Even on dogs and cats for alergy issues and skin conditions, like flea and tick bites. Keeps their ears healthy and if they lick it, it's good for them too! Can't say enough about this product and you need to make it part of your diet today!!

Absolutely love this coconut oil! It's large, so you'll def get your money's worth from it. We use it for everything in the kitchen in olace of Pam and other cooking oils. It has a strong scent to it, but you can't taste it in your food. Arrived quickly. Make sure to store it in 74° or higher, otherwise it will turn into a watery liquid.

Great coconut oil. The best value out there in my opinion. The jar is huge!!!! This coconut oil is really good at being either solid or completely liquid, depending on what temperature your house is. I've had brands before where it'll be liquid with little granules which was the orst. I use this on my baby's skin and head. She got a tiny bt of cradle cap and diaper rash ONCE. I put his oil on her bum and head and we were all cleared up the next day!

It has a pretty strong coconut smell to me, which works for making Thai curry and frying eggs. But it's not the best for stir fry.

Use this every day in my coffee.... it's not only healthy but helps take the bitterness away while letting the coffee flavor come through.

I use it for cooking as well as in my shakes. It is healthy and gives me the beneficial MCT my brain needs to be fog-free. Plus it has antiviral, antibacterial as well as anti-inflammatory benefits too. And yes, it comes in a humonguos jar for less than $20 that lasts for a good 2 months supply. Pretty awesome!

Great value! I was amazed to find such a large container of coconut oil for this price, can't beat it! It is a huge amount though, and coconut oil will turn rancid if you don't use it, so only buy this amount if you seriously plan to use it a lot. I do not use it for cooking, I use it as a skin moisturizer after the shower, so I keep it in the bathroom and use it daily.

i usually never ever put 5 stars for anything! But, this huge jar lasts me about a month because I apply coconut oil twice everyday to my bleached hair including pre-sleeping, so I wake up with luscious locks. My second purchase of this product, and it is a great value

Great taste and perfect for cooking and keeping skin soft and moist. I substitute all my dessert recipes with coconut oil for any oil called for in the recipe. It is much more healthier and adds great flavoring especially in brownies and cakes. It's all natural so it's my first choice for a skin moisturizer.

Love it, better than butter for toasting rolls, making garlic bread, cheese sandwiches, etc. Almost tastes like butter on toasted stuff and it is better for you ! I use it to season my cast iron as well. Great lubricator without the chemicals and for natural "personal" lubrication too.

I have three brands of coconut oil that I usually purchase but they are 52 oz and I usually go through them pretty fast. I decided to try this one because I figured I could use a larger size and because of the great reviews about the quality of this coconut oil. I use it in my coffee, for my skin, hair, oil pulling and my dogs so this size was perfect for my needs and the quality is awesome.

So far so good. It has a lovely light coconut smell as it should be. The price is excellent for the quantity one gets.

This is a great coconut oil. I WISH there was a Costco store near me so that I could purchase more Kirkland brand products. Their coconut oil is a really good product!
